Western medicine treatment of bacterial vaginosis

Western medicine treatment of bacterial vaginosis

Western medicine treatment

1. Oral medication therapy

a. Metronidazole: Currently, it is generally believed to have reliable efficacy. The dosage is 0.2-0.4 g orally each time, 2-3 times a day. If the dose is large or to avoid gastrointestinal reactions, vitamin B6 can be added. The course of treatment is 7-10 days.

b. Take 2 tablets of meprobamate (clomiphene) twice a day for 3 days.

c. Thiamphenicol (Hydroxythiomycin) is effective against a variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, and has a good effect on the growth of anaerobic bacteria, so it can also be used. The dosage is 10 tablets each time, or 1 to 2 tablets each time, 3 times a day, for 3 days.

Clindamycin and ampicillin can also be used. However, it is not recommended to use broad-spectrum antibiotics in large quantities for a long time to avoid causing imbalance of normal vaginal flora. Some people also advocate that asymptomatic patients do not need to be treated.

2. Local therapy

You can use vinegar and acidic solution to flush the vagina regularly, which can improve symptoms and help control the disease. You can also use metronidazole suppositories to put in the vagina, one every night for one week.

3. Treatment of comorbidities

If other pathogens are detected, drugs should be used to treat other pathogens, but the abuse of antibiotics should be avoided. When selecting drugs for reproductive tract or other systems, attention should be paid to the systemic condition. Supportive and immune-enhancing therapies can be used at the same time, and attention should be paid to the adverse reactions of the drug system.

4. Treatment of sexual partners

Some advocate that male sexual partners take a course of medication at the same time, but there are also reports that this treatment does not prevent relapses in female patients.
