Is postmenopausal bleeding definitely cancerous?

Is postmenopausal bleeding definitely cancerous?

Postmenopausal bleeding refers to vaginal bleeding, which is not necessarily cancerous. It may be caused by cervical polyps, uterine fibroids, cervicitis, endometritis, cervical cancer, etc. It is recommended to see a doctor to clarify the cause and give targeted treatment, as follows:

1. Cervical polyps: If polyps grow on the cervix, irregular vaginal bleeding may occur, especially after activities. After examination and diagnosis, the polyps can be removed under endoscopy.

2. Uterine fibroids: If fibroids grow in the uterus and are relatively large, postmenopausal vaginal bleeding may also occur. You can consider surgery to remove the uterine fibroids to avoid anemia caused by prolonged bleeding.

3. Cervicitis: Inflammation of the cervix causes congestion and edema, increases the fragility of local capillaries, and can also cause vaginal bleeding. Anti-infection treatments such as anti-cervicitis tablets and doxycycline tablets can be given.

4. Endometritis: Inflammation of the endometrium may cause postmenopausal vaginal bleeding. Drugs such as cefixime tablets, amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium tablets can be given to fight infection, control inflammation and improve symptoms.

5. Cervical cancer: Cervical cancer can also manifest as postmenopausal vaginal bleeding, usually contact bleeding or irregular vaginal bleeding, which may be accompanied by anemia, pale complexion, palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness and other symptoms. After diagnosis, surgical removal of the lesion is required, and comprehensive treatments such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy may also be required.
