Can you still get pregnant during menopause?

Menopause refers to the stage when women's menstruation stops, also known as perimenopause. It is a phenomenon caused by ovarian dysfunction and endocrine disorders. It is likely to occur between the ages of 45 and 55. If you do not pay attention to contraception during perimenopause, there is also the possibility of pregnancy.

Perimenopause usually refers to the period being shortened or prolonged for more than 7 days for 2 months within 10 months. It is usually considered that menstruation is becoming disordered and entering perimenopause. Menstruation becomes disordered during perimenopause, but ovulation still occurs. If you do not pay attention to contraception and have sex during the ovulation period, the chance of pregnancy is usually higher. Therefore, pregnancy is still possible during perimenopause.

Medically, there is a very clear time point for perimenopause, which usually refers to relative menopause after menstruation stops for one year. The average age of menopause is around 47 years old. Some people may reach menopause 2 to 3 years earlier, and some may reach menopause 2 to 3 years later, which is within the normal range. If you reach menopause before the age of 40, it is called premature ovarian failure, which is not a normal state. It is recommended to go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment.

Menstrual disorders may occur during perimenopause. As long as ovulation occurs, there is a possibility of pregnancy, but the probability is usually small. It is recommended to take contraceptive measures during perimenopause to avoid unwanted pregnancies.
