Amenorrhea is a common symptom in gynecological diseases and can be caused by various reasons. Amenorrhea is usually divided into primary and secondary. Those who have not had menstruation after the age of 18 are called primary amenorrhea; those who have no menstruation for more than 6 months at any time after menarche and before normal menopause (except pregnancy or lactation) are called secondary amenorrhea.

Some amenorrhea is caused by physical illness. So what diseases can cause amenorrhea in women?

1. Consuming diseases, such as severe pulmonary tuberculosis, severe anemia, malnutrition, etc.;

2. Specific endocrine diseases, such as "obesity reproductive incompetence malnutrition";

3. The influence of some endocrine glands in the body, such as dysfunction of the adrenal glands, thyroid gland, pancreas, etc.

There are also the following two situations that can cause amenorrhea.

1. Amenorrhea caused by atresia of the lower reproductive tract. For example, there is a congenital atresia in the cervix, vagina, hymen, labia, etc., or adhesion atresia caused by acquired damage. Although menstruation occurs, menstrual blood cannot flow out. This situation is called latent or pseudo-amenorrhea. Atresia of the lower reproductive tract can be cured.

2. Incomplete or stunted reproductive organs can lead to amenorrhea. Some people are born without ovaries, or their ovaries are dysplastic or damaged, and cannot produce estrogen and progesterone. Therefore, the endometrium cannot undergo cyclical changes, and there will be no endometrial shedding, so there will be no menstruation. Some people are born without a uterus, or their endometrium is dysplastic or damaged. Even if the ovaries are functioning well and the secretion of estrogen and progesterone is normal, they will still have amenorrhea.

If amenorrhea is caused by the above reasons, you must eat a reasonable diet, keep a good mood and actively seek treatment to restore the female endocrine system to normal.
