What are the hazards of uterine fibroids? Is uterine fibroids a common clinical disease?

Uterine fibroids are a common clinical disease, which will inevitably affect the patient's life. So, what are the hazards of uterine fibroids? Uterine fibroids, also known as uterine leiomyoma, are common benign gynecological tumors in female genitals. This disease is mainly caused by an imbalance of female estrogen. What are the symptoms of this disease? A small number of patients will experience vaginal bleeding, abdominal contact with tumors, and compression symptoms.

If the pedicle is twisted or other conditions occur, it will cause pain, which is common in multiple uterine fibroids. However, the symptoms of uterine fibroids vary depending on the condition. In severe cases, malignant tumors may occur, which is life-threatening. This disease is different from other diseases and is accompanied by a series of complications such as secondary anemia, inflammation, infertility, miscarriage, and malignant lesions.

For women of childbearing age, if intramural fibroids no larger than 5 cm are found before pregnancy, there will be no discomfort and no treatment is needed to get pregnant normally. On the contrary, surgical removal of fibroids is more traumatic to the uterus and may lead to infertility. During pregnancy, women's estrogen levels rise and fibroids grow rapidly. After pregnancy, as estrogen levels decrease, fibroids will shrink naturally. Therefore, most fibroids will not affect fertility.

The traditional treatment principle is that patients with mild symptoms do not need surgery if the size of the uterus does not exceed 12 weeks of pregnancy. They only need to go to the hospital for a checkup every 3 months and pay attention to the changes in the fibroids at any time. Especially for patients near menopause, conservative drug treatment is generally recommended because fibroids may shrink naturally after menopause.
