Does uterine fibroids require surgery? Treatment methods for uterine fibroids

We often hear that there is surgical treatment for uterine fibroids. So, is surgical treatment of uterine fibroids necessary?

More than 40% of women who undergo abdominal surgery for reasons other than cancer do so because of uterine fibroids. 7.5% of vaginal surgeries are due to uterine fibroids.

Uterine fibroids are benign lesions of the basal tissue of the uterus and generally do not require any treatment. Surgery is only considered for severe complications or ovarian cancer.

Whether a tumor is cancer can be determined by testing blood tumor markers and color ultrasound blood flow images, but the most reliable method is tissue section pathology. Once the pathology report shows malignant sarcoma, there is no need to worry about whether there are cancerous fibroid fragments left in the abdomen after laparoscopic surgery. As for the treatment of uterine artery ligation or vascular embolization, although the fibroid will shrink after surgery, it still exists.

It can be seen that surgical treatment of uterine fibroids is not necessary, and sometimes drug treatment can also achieve good results.
