What is an ectopic pregnancy and what causes it?

Ectopic pregnancy refers to the implantation and growth of the fertilized egg outside the uterus. It is a common acute abdominal disease in gynecology, mainly including fallopian tube pregnancy, ovarian pregnancy and abdominal pregnancy.

Pregnancy is a happy thing, but if an ectopic pregnancy unfortunately occurs, it is extremely harmful to women's health and must be treated as soon as possible. So what is ectopic pregnancy?
1. What is ectopic pregnancy ? Ectopic pregnancy refers to the implantation and growth of the fertilized egg outside the uterus. It is a very common acute abdominal disease in gynecology and one of the causes of maternal death during early pregnancy. The more common ones are fallopian tube pregnancy, ovarian pregnancy and abdominal pregnancy.
2. Causes of ectopic pregnancy
1. Smoking and drinking
If women smoke and drink for a long time, the nicotine content in their body will increase significantly, which can easily cause blockage of the fallopian tubes, affect the delivery of fertilized eggs, and lead to ectopic pregnancy.
2. Wearing an IUD
Although wearing an IUD can effectively prevent pregnancy, it is a foreign body after all. It can easily cause inflammation of the fallopian tubes when placed in the body, thus increasing the incidence of ectopic pregnancy.
3. Symptoms of ectopic pregnancy
1. Lower abdominal pain
Most patients with ectopic pregnancy will not experience symptoms of lower abdominal pain. It is mainly manifested as dull pain on one side of the lower abdomen, and sometimes just a sore and swollen feeling. If miscarriage or rupture occurs, tearing pain will often occur.
2. Amenorrhea
Ectopic pregnancy can also cause symptoms of amenorrhea, which are the same as the symptoms of normal pregnancy and can be easily overlooked.
