Can color Doppler ultrasound detect ectopic pregnancy? Vaginal color Doppler ultrasound is more accurate

Ectopic pregnancy is something every pregnant woman should be wary of. It is very harmful and is an ectopic pregnancy, meaning that the fertilized egg implants and develops outside the uterus. Women with ectopic pregnancy usually experience symptoms such as amenorrhea, abdominal pain, and vaginal bleeding. Once an ectopic pregnancy ruptures, pregnant women will experience severe abdominal pain. The situation is very critical and requires early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment. So, can color Doppler ultrasound detect ectopic pregnancy?

Generally, ectopic pregnancy can be detected by color Doppler ultrasound, but vaginal color Doppler ultrasound is more accurate. Color Doppler ultrasound is a commonly used examination instrument in clinical practice, mainly used to examine vascular diseases, abdominal organs, heart, small organs, prostate, gynecology, etc. Color Doppler ultrasound can detect fetal blood flow and other conditions, and has many advantages over B-ultrasound.
Common ways to check for ectopic pregnancy
1. Blood HCG test
Blood HCG test is one of the methods that can help to exclude. If the blood HCG level is lower than that of normal pregnancy after several consecutive tests, it can indicate the possibility of ectopic pregnancy. However, reliable and accurate judgment still needs to be combined with B-ultrasound examination, so blood test cannot determine whether it is ectopic pregnancy.
2. Ultrasound examination
B-ultrasound examination is particularly commonly used for the diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy. Vaginal B-ultrasound examination is more accurate than abdominal B-ultrasound examination. B-ultrasound examination can clearly see the position, size and shape of the gestational sac, as well as the embryo and fetal heart rate. It can determine whether it is a single pregnancy or a multiple pregnancy, understand whether it is a normal intrauterine pregnancy, and rule out the possibility of abnormal pregnancy.
3. Progesterone measurement
The serum P level of ectopic pregnancy is low, but it is relatively stable at 5-10 weeks of pregnancy, and a single measurement has a greater diagnostic value. Although there is overlap between normal and abnormal pregnancy serum P levels, and it is difficult to determine the absolute critical value between them, serum P levels below 10ng/m1 (radioimmunoassay) often indicate abnormal pregnancy, and its accuracy rate is about 90%.
4. Laparoscopic examination
In most cases, early ectopic pregnancy can be diagnosed after medical history, gynecological examination, blood β-HCG measurement, and B-ultrasound examination. However, for some cases that are more difficult to diagnose, examination under direct laparoscope can provide a clear diagnosis in time and surgical treatment can be performed at the same time.
