The best treatment for adenomyosis

Adenomyosis is a common gynecological disease among female friends. It is a complex disease that is difficult to cure, and its cause is still unclear in medicine. If a female friend finds that she has symptoms related to adenomyosis or confirms that she unfortunately has adenomyosis, she must seek medical attention in time. Otherwise, her development may lead to serious consequences, even infertility.

Introducing the best treatment for adenomyosis

There are many treatment options for this disease. Clinical decisions should be individualized based on the patient's age, symptoms, and reproductive requirements. Surgery and medications may be options.

1. Medication

(1) Symptomatic treatment for mild symptoms, only to relieve dysmenorrhea, can choose to give ibuprofen, indomethacin or naproxen and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for symptomatic treatment of dysmenorrhea

(2) For patients with mild symptoms, no temporary fertility requirements, and approaching menopause, pseudopregnancy treatment can control the development of adenomyosis by controlling the decidualization and atrophy of the ectopic endometrium. Oral contraceptives or progesterone can cause decidualization and atrophy of the ectopic endometrium.

(3) If the intrauterine device is used for heavy menstrual flow, dysmenorrhea, and there is no desire to have children for the time being, an intrauterine device containing highly effective progesterone can be selected to control the development of ectopic lesions by continuously releasing progesterone in the uterus. It needs to be removed or replaced after five years.

(4) Pseudomenopause treatment, preoperative reduction of lesions and drug treatment, and reduction of postoperative recurrence. GNRHA injection can make the hormone level in the body reach the menopausal state, causing the ectopic endometrium to gradually shrink and play a therapeutic role.

(5) In terms of TCM treatment, TCM believes that adenomyosis is related to blood stasis, and the formation of blood stasis is related to pathogenic factors such as qi deficiency, cold stagnation, qi stagnation, phlegm and dampness. Therefore, in treatment, we must follow the principle of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, while taking into account the causes of blood stasis and the difference between deficiency and excess.

2. Surgical treatment

(1) Hysterectomy

It is suitable for patients who have no fertility requirements, extensive lesions, severe symptoms, and ineffective conservative treatment. In addition, in order to avoid residual lesions, total hysterectomy is the first choice, and partial hysterectomy is generally not recommended.

(2) Lesion resection for adenomyosis

It is suitable for patients who want to have children or are young. Adenomyosis often has diffuse lesions with unclear boundaries with normal uterine muscle tissue, so how to choose the resection method to reduce postoperative bleeding, residual and promote pregnancy is a more difficult problem.

Women should avoid adenomyosis by starting with lifestyle habits, developing a healthy and regular lifestyle and rest, taking good contraceptive measures, and avoiding unwanted pregnancies, because surgical abortion is very harmful to the female uterus and can easily lead to gynecological diseases such as adrenal myopathy. Only by taking preventive measures can we have a healthy uterus.
