Causes of congenital absence of vagina

Congenital absence of vagina is not a very common disease in life, and many people may be unfamiliar with it. 1. Androgen insensitivity syndrome is also a common cause of this disease. Women may develop androgen insensitivity syndrome during pregnancy, which may cause malformation or abnormal development of the reproductive organs of the fetus in the mother's body. This is also one of the important factors leading to congenital absence of vagina in women. Therefore, female friends must pay more attention to their health during pregnancy.

2. Infection with certain viruses or Toxoplasma in early pregnancy and the use of male hormones, anti-cancer drugs, etc. may cause congenital absence of vagina in the child. Women may be infected with certain viruses or Toxoplasma in early pregnancy, which may cause the reproductive organs of the fetus to develop abnormally in the mother's body, which is also the cause of congenital absence of vagina.

3. Congenital absence of vaginal system embryos are hindered by internal or external factors during development, or may be caused by abnormal development of the paramesonephric duct due to gene mutation (may have family history). With normal female chromosome karyotype, normal growth and development of female secondary sexual characteristics, normal vulva, absence of vagina, development of uterus (only remnants of two horns), small fallopian tubes, and normal development and function of ovaries.

Congenital absence of vagina can cause many complications, with or without uterine dysplasia. If the uterus is dysplastic, it may manifest as primary amenorrhea after puberty, with a small or deformed uterus; if the uterus is normally developed, it may present with primary amenorrhea accompanied by cyclical abdominal pain, intrauterine blood accumulation, uterine enlargement, and sexual dysfunction. Those with ovarian dysplasia, dysplastic secondary sexual characteristics, short stature, webbed neck, cubitus valgus and other deformities should be actively treated.
