What to do if you have ovarian cysts during pregnancy

Pregnant women are a special group of people. Generally, they are forbidden to use any drugs, because the slightest carelessness may affect the fetus in the abdomen and even cause miscarriage. Ovarian tumors are common tumors of the female genitals, and they are also inevitable for pregnant women. So, what should I do if I have ovarian cysts during pregnancy?

Pregnancy with ovarian cysts may cause many harms to pregnant women if left untreated:

1. In early pregnancy, if the tumor is large or embedded in the pelvic cavity, it can easily cause miscarriage.

2. During labor, ovarian tumors can block the birth canal and cause obstructive dystocia, or uterine contractions and the baby's head presentation can compress the tumor and cause rupture and bleeding.

Ovarian cysts during pregnancy are very serious and must be treated actively. If the ovarian cyst is not large and does not hinder the growth of the uterus, it can be removed after delivery. If the pedicle is twisted or ruptured, surgery should be performed at any time. If it becomes malignant, surgery should also be performed immediately.

In the late pregnancy, if the ovarian tumor is in the lower part of the uterus and affects the fetal head entering the pelvis, a cesarean section should be decisively decided. During the cesarean section, the ovarian tissue on both sides should be carefully explored and the ovarian tumor should be removed.

For pregnant patients with ovarian cysts, surgery is usually performed around 16 weeks of pregnancy. Before this, surgery can induce miscarriage. After this, surgery becomes difficult and complications such as tumor pedicle torsion and rupture may occur, making treatment passive and posing a great threat to both the mother and the fetus. Therefore, if an ovarian cyst is found during pregnancy, it is recommended that the patient go to a regular hospital as soon as possible and choose the most suitable treatment method under the guidance of a doctor according to their actual situation! Strive for a speedy recovery!
