Diagnosis of complications related to artificial abortion

Diagnosis of complications related to artificial abortion

There are many complications that may occur during artificial abortion. The diagnosis of related complications is as follows:

1. Comprehensive reaction to artificial abortion

Women who undergo abortion may experience bradycardia, arrhythmia, low blood pressure, pale complexion, cold sweats, dizziness, chest tightness, and even fainting and convulsions during or at the end of the procedure. This is mainly due to mechanical stimulation of the cervix or uterus causing vagus nerve excitement. It is also related to the mental tension of the pregnant woman and her inability to tolerate cervical canal dilation, traction or excessive negative pressure.

2. Uterine perforation

During the process of artificial abortion, if there is a sudden bottomless feeling when the instrument enters the uterine cavity, or its depth obviously exceeds the size of the uterus during examination, it often indicates uterine perforation, which is closely related to the operator's operating technique and the condition of the uterus itself (such as pregnant uterus during lactation, pregnancy again after cesarean section scar uterus, etc.).

3. Bleeding during surgery

It often occurs in the advanced stages of pregnancy, mainly because the tissue cannot be discharged quickly, affecting uterine contraction.

4. Leakage

Although it was confirmed to be an intrauterine pregnancy, no embryo or chorionic villi could be aspirated during the operation, mainly because the gestational sac was too small, the uterus was overly curved or uterine malformation occurred.

5. Amniotic fluid embolism

Occasionally, it can occur during artificial abortion curettage, and the parturient will suddenly become restless, shiver, vomit, choke, have difficulty breathing, become cyanotic, and go into rapid shock. If the onset is acute, the woman may die within a few minutes. This is related to cervical injury and placental detachment, which opens the blood sinus and allows amniotic fluid to enter the blood.
