3 major causes of adnexitis

Adnexitis refers to inflammation of the fallopian tubes and ovaries, but since pelvic peritonitis and parauterine connective tissue inflammation are difficult to distinguish from adnexitis, they are also included in the scope of adnexitis. Patients with adnexitis initially feel slight abdominal pain and discomfort, which worsens during menstruation. Clinically, it often occurs with pelvic inflammatory disease.

Many women are troubled by adnexitis, and severe cases may lead to infertility. The causes of adnexitis include a history of uterine surgery without strict disinfection, women with IUDs, and a history of unclean sexual intercourse.

Women with a history of uterine surgery with poor sterilization

Some patients with adnexitis have undergone intrauterine surgery, such as abortion, hysterosalpingography, cervical canal treatment, obstetric surgery, etc. If the operation is not strictly disinfected and bacteria are brought into the uterine cavity, it may induce adnexitis.

Women with intrauterine device

Nowadays, in order to reduce the burden on the family or for other reasons, every family has only one child, and many women choose to use IUDs to control pregnancy. However, if the sterile operation is not carried out when placing the IUD or personal hygiene is not paid attention to after the placement of the IUD, it will cause adnexitis.

Women with a history of sexual misconduct

If there is a history of unclean sexual intercourse, it may be infected with sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea, genital herpes, AIDS, etc. After women are infected with certain sexually transmitted diseases, the bacteria can spread upward along the mucous membrane, causing adnexitis.
