When inflammation spreads to the pelvic cavity along the uterosacral ligament, there may be lumbar pain, a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen, and dysmenorrhea, which worsens during bowel movements and sexual intercourse. In addition, sticky and purulent leucorrhea is not conducive to the passage of sperm and may also cause infertility.
