Long-term vegetarian diet in women may lead to amenorrhea

Many women have been vegetarians for a long time in order to lose weight. This will reduce the body's resistance and easily cause infection or other diseases. Long-term vegetarianism will also have a destructive effect on the body's hormone secretion, leading to abnormal hormone secretion and menstrual cycle disorders, and even in severe cases, infertility. Young girls who often eat vegetarian food often have delayed menstruation. If they also exercise a lot, it is easy to cause secondary amenorrhea.

Studies have shown that insufficient intake of manganese not only affects bone development and fails to meet the body's metabolic needs, but also causes bone pain, fatigue, hunchback and other diseases. The manganese contained in plant foods is difficult for the human body to absorb, and only the manganese contained in meat foods is easily absorbed by the human body. Zinc, calcium, iron and other nutrients necessary for the human body mainly come from meat. Zinc mainly comes from animal foods, 80% of calcium comes from dairy products, and 80% of iron comes from meat and eggs. In vegetarian foods, these nutrients are present in very low amounts, and they also contain more phytic acid and oxalic acid, which can hinder the absorption of these nutrients.

Therefore, long-term vegetarians are prone to some diseases caused by mineral deficiency, such as anorexia, pica, decreased sexual function, infertility, rickets, bone hyperplasia, osteoporosis, anemia , etc.

Vegetarian food contains more plant fiber, which can reduce bile acid reabsorption and bile salt concentration. In addition, vegetarians do not take enough vitamins A and E, which can easily cause gallbladder epithelial cells to fall off, leading to cholesterol deposition and gallstone formation. It can be seen that women should choose a diet that combines meat and vegetables. For those with obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases, they can eat more vegetarian food appropriately, while for children in the growth and development period and those with malnutrition and trace element deficiency, they may wish to increase meat intake. In short, a scientific diet should be a combination of meat and vegetables in an appropriate proportion.
