What causes uterine fibroids?

Uterine fibroids are common benign tumors in women, which may be caused by genetic factors, physiological factors, external stimulation, dietary factors, disease factors, endocrine disorders, and drug factors.

1. Genetic factors

The onset of uterine fibroids is related to genetic factors. If a mother or sister has uterine fibroids, the woman may be affected by genetic factors and the risk of uterine fibroids may increase.

2. Physiological factors

1. External stimulation: The uterine cavity is constantly stimulated by external machinery, such as multiple artificial abortions, which may increase the risk of uterine fibroids.

2. Dietary factors: Frequent consumption of out-of-season fruits and vegetables, meat with a short growth cycle, etc. may increase the estrogen level in the body due to excessive intake of exogenous estrogen, thereby increasing the risk of uterine fibroids.

3. Disease Factors

1. Endocrine disorders: Patients with endocrine disorders have long-term high estrogen levels or imbalanced estrogen and progesterone levels in their bodies, which increases the risk of uterine fibroids because uterine fibroids are hormone-dependent diseases.

2. Polycystic ovary syndrome: This type of patients usually have increased androgen levels in the body, which in turn causes the endometrium to be continuously affected by hormones, thus increasing the risk of uterine fibroids.

4. Drug Factors

Long-term abuse of estrogen drugs may lead to excessive estrogen levels in the body. In addition, uterine fibroids are a hormone-dependent disease, so the risk of uterine fibroids will increase.

Note: For patients with confirmed uterine fibroids, they should actively cooperate with doctors for examination and treatment. They should maintain good living habits, get enough sleep, and avoid staying up late. At the same time, they should relax and avoid excessive anxiety and tension. If they have any discomfort, they should seek medical attention in time.
