Is adenomyosis serious?

We know that adenomyosis brings a lot of pain to patients. Dysmenorrhea is indeed very serious and may even lead to infertility. We should attach great importance to this disease.

Let’s look at the symptoms of adenomyosis:

1. Adenomyosis is a gynecological disease caused by the growth of endometrium in any part outside the uterine cavity, such as the ovary, uterosacral ligament, uterine posterior wall serosa, uterorectal fossa, sigmoid colon pelvic peritoneum, etc. It can also occur in the uterine muscle layer, so clinical endometriosis is divided into external endometriosis and internal endometriosis.

2. Patients often complain of infertility, dysmenorrhea and pelvic pain. The infertility rate of patients with endometriosis is about 40%. Clinically, attention has always been paid to the relationship between this disease and infertility, and endometriosis is considered to be one of the main causes of infertility.

3. Menstrual disorders. Due to the increase in uterine volume, the area of endometrium, and the increase in ectopic endometrium between the uterine muscle walls, a small number of female friends may experience spotting before and after menstruation, which affects the contraction of uterine muscle fibers.

4. Dysmenorrhea. Secondary dysmenorrhea occurs in older women. When they are close to 40 years old, dysmenorrhea will gradually become more severe, with frequent cramps and inability to work normally. Dysmenorrhea is caused by edema and bleeding of the ectopic endometrium during menstruation, which stimulates spasmodic contraction of the muscle wall.

5. Adenomyosis can also cause pain, cramps and colic, which can be severe and unbearable. Some women may also experience pain during intercourse, which makes many female patients afraid to have sex. Excessive menstruation can lead to anemia. Patients with adenomyosis often have an enlarged uterus and an enlarged endometrium, which can lead to excessive menstruation. If excessive menstruation persists for a long time, it may lead to anemia.
