I had a long-awaited date after get off work, but my feet were more swollen than usual... This is because poor water metabolism or blood circulation causes excess water to accumulate under the skin. It's almost time to take off your boots, and everyone wants to go out with slender feet. This time, as a personal trainer, I will tell you the techniques to remove excess water and get you closer to beautiful legs.

What causes edema?

Old waste or water in the body will be absorbed by the lymphatic vessels or veins, and then discharged from the body as excrement (urine, sweat, etc.). However, if you do not exercise enough, wear ill-fitting shoes, or maintain the same posture for a long time, the lymph or blood flow will be poor, resulting in excess water that cannot be absorbed and accumulates. This is edema. The part that is most prone to edema is the calf, which is farthest from the heart. In order for water to be absorbed, blood and lymph blockages need to be eliminated.

Effective ways to fight edema

Method 1: Simple stretching exercises

Next, I will introduce some simple stretching exercises that you can do under your desk. Sit on a chair with your knees straight and your toes pointed forward, hold for 5 seconds. Then point your toes upward and stretch your heels, hold for 5 seconds. When stretching, focus on stretching your calves. Repeat 4 to 5 times.

Method 2: Pressing acupoints

Pressing the Yongquan point on the sole of the foot can increase water metabolism and eliminate fatigue. The Yongquan point is located in the depression in the middle of the sole of the foot when the second toe (index finger) bone and the big toe are put together. Press toward the toes. Press while exhaling and relaxing, hold the pressure for 5 seconds and repeat 4 to 5 times.

Method 3/Lymphatic Massage

Twist your ankle with both hands and press through your calf to the back of your knee. There are lymph nodes on the inside of the knee, so press gently with your hands. Then, pass the thighs and gently press on the base of the thighs. You can also do this through clothes. Please repeat 10 times.
