Are hormones effective for weight loss? Exposing the NG Weight Loss Method

When it comes to the hundreds of ways to lose weight, there were quite a few that were all the rage in 2013, and some are still being imitated now. This is especially true when there are celebrity endorsements or successful weight loss stories, which accelerates the trend of the general public following suit. However, the British Dietetic Association has compiled several incorrect weight loss methods in 2013 that may be harmful to your health.

Originating from the ancient Indian breathing method, it claims that people can survive without eating, and has become a disguised weight loss method.

1. Hormone weight loss method (Biotyping)

The term was originally used in chemical applications, but later became a novel diet that claimed to effectively eliminate stress, reduce aging, and increase potential energy. By finding out where the most and least hormones in the body are, they are divided into 6 different types of groups: androgen, insulin, estrogen, cortisol, growth hormone, and thyroid hormone, and there are different ways to improve your body shape.

For example, insulin-type people usually have fat distributed in the shoulder blade and hip area. This type of people can eat more fish oil, high-protein foods, and reduce carbohydrate intake. Foreign singer Boy George successfully lost weight by adjusting his diet according to hormonal changes in the body.

However, this method of weight loss relies on additional nutritional supplements to increase nutrition, which may have many side effects on the body in the long run. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has also issued a warning that relying on hormones to lose weight may have adverse effects on the body.

2. Breatharian Diet

This weight loss method was also used by pop queen Madonna. It is derived from an ancient Indian practice that advocates not eating solid food but living on liquid drinks. It believes that people can survive by breathing. One can start by being a vegetarian, eating only fruits and drinking only liquids, and finally not using any substance at all.

However, there have been reports of many people starving to death because of their belief in this theory. When this type of practice is extended to people who want to lose weight, it becomes an extreme way of losing weight, thinking that they can lose weight and survive without absorbing calories.

However, if the body has not eaten for a long time, it will first break down glucose in the body, then protein and fat. The liver will produce fatty acid metabolites "keto acids", which are harmful to the body. The body will then enter a dehydration stage, creating more fatal risks and making it difficult to survive.
