Ke Nianxuan gained 10 kg after taking medication for hyperthyroidism

Young women are more prone to hyperthyroidism. Female artist Ke Nianxuan was out of breath and had a swollen neck when walking during the summer vacation between her freshman and sophomore year. She went to the hospital for a check-up and was found to have hyperthyroidism. After taking medication, her weight increased by more than 10 kilograms. Although she was very depressed, she still followed the doctor's advice. In addition to taking medication on time, she has been developing in the entertainment industry in recent years. Through regular exercise and diet control, she has gradually maintained a healthy and graceful figure and stayed away from the threat of illness.

The mixed-race beauty Ke Nianxuan from National Chengchi University recently talked about her health-preserving experience on TV. She pointed out that it might be due to genetics and stress that she not only suffers from insomnia and hand tremors at night, but also has shortness of breath when walking. After the doctor prescribed oral anti-thyroid medication, she gained weight significantly. The doctor then suggested that she exercise regularly every day, including swimming and jogging; drink vegetable and fruit juice in the morning, eat less starchy sweets, lead a regular life, go to bed early, study and relax, so that her weight can gradually return to normal.

Dr. Guo Xiwen, director of the Department of Metabolism at the Tzu Chi Taipei Branch, pointed out that there are approximately 3 million people suffering from thyroid disease in Taiwan. In endocrine clinics, the number of patients seeking treatment for thyroid disease is second only to diabetes. The symptoms of the disease are very diverse, so drug treatment is very important. Patients are advised to understand when they are prone to recurrence and how to avoid it.

Hyperthyroidism is especially common in young women aged 15 to 40. Causes include thyroid inflammation, nodules, and tumors, mostly due to autoimmune problems. However, if taking medication makes you fat, it is due to the fact that your diet and lifestyle habits have not changed, and has nothing to do with side effects of the medication. For treatment, you must take medication every day, and it takes about 1 to 2 years to take the medication. If you do not receive treatment, or if you stop taking the medicine rashly during treatment, it is very likely that your condition will worsen and you will die.
