WHO: Low-fat diet can help you lose 1.6 kg in half a year

At the end of the year, many people go on a diet to lose weight for their company's year-end party performances. However, the Reuters website pointed out that a study by the World Health Organization (WHO) has shown that people can lose about 1.6 kilograms in 6 months as long as they reduce their intake of high-fat foods, even without deliberately losing weight.

The study was led by Lee Hooper, a professor at the University of East Anglia Medical School in London. It involved 33 trials involving 73,589 men, women and children in the United States, Europe and New Zealand. The results showed that there is no need to diet. Choosing low-fat foods can help people lose about 3.5 pounds (about 1.6 kilograms) and lower cholesterol.

Huber said that the subjects of this study did not set a weight loss goal but only reduced the fat intake in their diet, so the subjects continued to eat normal amounts of food, but what surprised the researchers was that their weight and body mass index (BMI) decreased, their waist circumference also became thinner, and those who ate a low-fat food could maintain their weight loss for at least 7 years.

The researchers pointed out that this study was commissioned by the WHO Nutrition Guidance Expert Advisory Group and will become an important reference for global dietary recommendations in the future.
