As material conditions become increasingly affluent, obesity is one of the most troublesome civilization diseases for modern people. Many people are looking for the best treatment for their distorted body shape or damaged health. Compared with diet or regular exercise, using drugs to control weight can save a lot of effort and satisfy the appetite, but there are always side effects. Therefore, British researchers recently announced that they will launch a new drug within 5 years to solve similar problems.

According to a report in the British Daily Mail, Stephen, an authority on weight loss at Imperial College London. Professor Stephen Bloom recently invented a new drug called "OAP-189" that can simulate the hormone "oxyntomodulin" released by the stomach when it is full, thereby reducing appetite without causing uncomfortable side effects.

In the past, there were several legal weight loss drugs on the market, such as Xenical and Reductil. Although they could effectively inhibit the body from absorbing too much fat, they were prone to cause gastrointestinal discomfort, cardiovascular or mental illnesses. Some were even forced to be taken off the shelves due to excessive side effects.

Professor Blumen said that some people undergo gastric bypass surgery to shrink their stomach and lengthen their digestive tract in order to lose weight, thereby increasing the concentration of oxyntomodulin hormone in the body. This drug uses this principle to reduce the user's appetite and achieve significant weight loss effects.

In previous experiments, Professor Blumen used overweight people as research subjects. He stimulated the production of the hormone in the subjects' bodies three times a day for four weeks. In the end, everyone lost an average of 5 pounds, equivalent to 2.268 kilograms. Therefore, he applied this concept to the newly developed drug OAP-189. Although the market expects that the drug will still cause nausea and stomach upset in some consumers, it has now been actively put into the preliminary human trial stage. After it is launched on the market, it may first be used as a prescription drug for diabetic patients, and then it will be sold as a weight loss drug in pharmacies.
