So, is it okay to take penicillin for pelvic effusion?

Pelvic effusion is the presence of inflammatory exudate in the pelvic cavity, which can occur pathologically after pelvic inflammatory disease, adnexitis or endometriosis. According to pathological factors, it can be divided into physiological pelvic effusion and pathological pelvic effusion. Physiological pelvic effusion is not a bad thing for women, but pathological pelvic effusion is more harmful. Once a woman suffers from this type of effusion, she should go to the hospital for treatment in time.

There are many treatments for pelvic effusion, such as drug therapy and surgical treatment, so patients should choose a suitable method for treatment under the guidance of a doctor, and avoid blind treatment.

Penicillin is a β-lactam antibiotic with strong antibacterial effect on Gram-positive bacteria and some Gram-negative bacteria. Staphylococcus aureus, pneumococcus, gonococcus and streptococcus are highly sensitive to this product; meningococcus, diphtheria, tetanus and syphilis spirochetes are also very sensitive. Penicillin is mainly used for various acute infections caused by sensitive bacteria, such as pneumonia, bronchitis, meningitis, endocarditis, peritonitis, abscess, sepsis, cellulitis, mastitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, gonorrhea, leptospirosis, relapsing fever, syphilis, diphtheria and otitis media.

Therefore, penicillin can be used to treat pelvic effusion. However, it is recommended that metronidazole should be used for anti-anaerobic treatment while penicillin is used to treat pelvic effusion.
