What tests are needed for endometriosis?

Women with endometriosis should have the following tests:

1. Gynecological examination:

Uterus: The uterus is enlarged, posterior, and has limited mobility. Nodules can be felt on the posterior wall. This indicates endometriosis and adenomyosis.

Pelvic floor: The sacroiliac ligament, uterine rectal fossa, and posterior cervical wall often touch small hard nodules, about the size of mung beans or soybeans, which are often painful to touch and can be easily mistaken for malignant tumors.

Ovarian: Cysts are often adhered to the surrounding area and can be easily misdiagnosed as adnexitis.

2. B-ultrasound examination: B-ultrasound is an effective method to assist in the diagnosis of endometriosis, and is mainly used to observe ovarian chocolate cysts and adenomyosis.

Cyst: A cyst or mixed mass with well-defined or ill-defined borders.

Inside the cyst: fine granular echoes can be seen. Sometimes, due to the concentration and organization of old blood clots, denser coarse light spots may appear.

Location: The mass is often located at the posterior side of the uterus, and cystic uterine adhesions may be seen.

Bilateral: 50%; left and right chocolate cysts are bilateral. The cysts on both sides form a "kiss" due to adhesion close to the midline.

3. Laparoscopy:

Standard: Laparoscopy is currently the gold standard for diagnosing endometriosis. Laparoscopy can directly peer into the pelvic cavity, clearly diagnose endometriosis, clinically stage and determine the treatment plan, and perform surgical treatment at the same time.

Advantages: Diagnosis and treatment are completed at the same time.

Disadvantages: surgical trauma.

4. Examination of hematoma-related indicators:

CA125 and CA199 indicate an increase in endometriosis activity, which is also a risk factor, but generally does not exceed 200 IU/L.
