Cervicitis is one of the common gynecological diseases, which is divided into acute and chronic types, with chronic inflammation being the most common. Acute cervicitis is usually caused by infection. Common pathogens include Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Chlamydia trachomatis. It can often be cured with standardized and adequate antibiotic treatment. Chronic cervicitis is mostly caused by the invasion of pathogens after childbirth, abortion or surgical injury to the cervix, and is generally manifested as erosive changes, cervical hypertrophy, cervical polyps, cervical glandular cysts and cervical eversion. The treatment of cervicitis is mainly antibiotic treatment, but it needs to be used according to the doctor's orders to avoid antibiotic resistance. The symptoms of cervicitis vary depending on the severity of the inflammation and the duration of the disease. The most common symptom of acute cervicitis is increased vaginal discharge, which is purulent and sometimes bloody or brown, and may be accompanied by vulvar itching, burning sensation, lower abdominal pain, backache, etc. Urinary tract irritation symptoms may also occur, such as frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating. The symptoms of chronic cervicitis are usually atypical, mainly including increased leucorrhea, sometimes light yellow or purulent, or accompanied by blood. Symptoms such as intermenstrual bleeding and bleeding after sexual intercourse may also occur. When the inflammation spreads to the pelvic cavity, symptoms such as lower abdominal distension, dysmenorrhea, and lumbosacral pain may occur. Cervicitis may also cause lesions such as cervical polyps, cervical hypertrophy, endocervicitis, and cervical glandular cysts, which may also cause corresponding symptoms. |
