What does thick endometrium mean?

Endometrial thickness is also known as endometrial hyperplasia in clinical practice. It is caused by the increase of endogenous or exogenous estrogen, which leads to the proliferation of endometrial glands and stroma. Endometrial thickness is divided into physiological thickening or pathological thickening. If physiological thickening, uterine fibroids, endometrial polyps and other benign diseases are not serious, if it is endometrial cancer, it is a more serious disease. The specific introduction is as follows:

1. Physiological thickening: After pregnancy, the endometrium is stimulated by estrogen and progesterone, causing thickening of the endometrium. This condition is not serious and has no effect on the body, so no treatment is required.

2. Uterine fibroids: Uterine fibroids can cause thickening of the endometrium, which is usually not serious. Surgical removal of the fibroids can be considered to be curative.

3. Endometrial polyps: Polyps form on the endometrium, causing endometrial thickening. It is generally not serious and endoscopic removal of the polyps can be considered. It will not have a significant impact on the human body.

4. Endometrial cancer: Endometrial cancer can cause thickening of the endometrium. This condition is quite serious. If it is not effectively controlled in time, it will endanger the patient's life. It requires surgery to remove the lesion and then chemotherapy. Active treatment can generally delay the progression of the disease.

If the endometrium is thick, it is recommended to seek medical attention in time, find out the cause and receive treatment as soon as possible.
