How to make sure the abortion is clean? Doctors recommend these 4 methods

To determine whether a miscarriage is complete, a physical examination can be performed first. If vaginal bleeding continues after miscarriage, there is a high possibility that there are residues in the uterine cavity. In addition, abdominal B-ultrasound examination, vaginal color ultrasound examination, pregnancy test, etc. can also make a clear judgment.

If the embryo is underdeveloped within 12 weeks of pregnancy, spontaneous abortion may occur. If the abortion is complete, there is generally no need for curettage. Pay attention to rest, strengthen nutrition, and let the body recover slowly. If the abortion is not clean, curettage is still needed. So, how to determine whether the spontaneous abortion is clean?
1. Physical examination
During spontaneous abortion, there will be some trauma to the endometrium, so there will be vaginal bleeding after abortion. If the abortion is thorough and clean, the vaginal bleeding will not last too long, and will last for about 3 to 7 days, and will not exceed 15 days at most. If vaginal bleeding continues after spontaneous abortion, it may be caused by residues in the uterine cavity, which affects the contraction of the uterus. Therefore, the symptoms can also be used to make a preliminary judgment on whether the abortion is clean.
2. Ultrasound examination
If you want to know whether the spontaneous abortion is clean and complete, you can go to the hospital for a B-ultrasound examination two weeks after the abortion. If there is no residue in the uterine cavity, it means that the abortion is relatively clean. If there is residue in the uterine cavity, it means that the spontaneous abortion is not particularly thorough and needs to be treated with uterine curettage in time. Otherwise, the patient will have anemia problems due to excessive blood loss and increase the chance of intrauterine infection. You do not need to fast for this examination, but you need to hold your urine.
3. Vaginal color ultrasound examination
If you want to determine whether the miscarriage is clean, you can also go to the hospital for a vaginal color ultrasound two weeks after the miscarriage. The probe of the instrument enters from the vagina, so you can have a clearer understanding of the situation inside the vagina and uterus. Compared with abdominal B-ultrasound, it is clearer and more accurate, so you can better judge whether there is any residue in the uterine cavity. You don't need to hold your urine when doing this examination.
4. Pregnancy test
After pregnancy, the blood HCG will be positive and will continue until after delivery. If the miscarriage is particularly clean and complete, there is no residue in the uterine cavity, and the blood HCG will turn negative; if the miscarriage is not complete, there are residues in the uterine cavity, and the blood HCG test will still be positive. Therefore, if you want to judge whether the miscarriage is complete and clean, you can also draw blood for HCG testing, which can basically make a clear judgment.
