Wound care after laparoscopic treatment of uterine fibroids

Wound care after laparoscopic treatment of uterine fibroids

Uterine fibroids are the most common benign tumors in women, known as the "first gynecological tumor". With the development of gynecological laparoscopic technology, laparoscopic uterine surgery has been widely used in clinical practice. The wound care after the treatment of uterine fibroids is as follows:

1. Care for wound pain

Postoperative wound pain is an unavoidable problem in laparotomy, but most laparoscopic surgery patients do not need to use analgesics when they have incision pain. It can be relieved by psychological comfort or taking a comfortable position. The postoperative pain of patients is lighter and shorter than that of open surgery, mainly because the incision is small and the damage is less. Postoperative psychological care is an important means of pain relief. A good mentality can not only promote the smooth progress of the operation, but also promote the recovery of patients after surgery.

2. Wound care

The incisions for laparoscopy are relatively small, usually about 1 cm at the navel and 0.5 cm at the lower abdomen. Generally speaking, the navel incision will be sutured simply. If non-absorbable sutures are used, they will be removed 7 days after the operation. If absorbable sutures are used, they do not need to be removed. The incisions in the lower abdomen are generally not sutured, but only taped with breathable tape. Sometimes, simple sutures can be performed to increase the neatness of wound healing.

It takes about 10 days for the incision to heal completely, and the patient should keep the incision clean and dry during this period. At the same time, since the patient's hospital stay is short, the entire healing process cannot be observed in the hospital. Therefore, after discharge, the incision should be observed every day for redness, swelling, heat, and pain to prevent infection.
