What tests should be done before abortion?

For women who want to have an artificial abortion, a gynecological examination should be conducted before the operation to find out whether there is gynecological inflammation; at the same time, corresponding auxiliary examinations should also be conducted to assist surgical treatment and prevent some postoperative complications.

1. Early pregnancy test

This method is fast, convenient, sensitive and highly specific. Its principle is that soon after fertilization, the placental trophoblast cells will secrete human chorionic gonadotropin, which is present in large quantities in the urine of pregnant women. The urine of non-pregnant women almost does not contain this hormone. Therefore, the concentration of human chorionic gonadotropin in urine can be detected by test strips to determine whether a woman is pregnant.

2. Ultrasound examination

Ultrasound examination can see the gestational sac and determine its size. Ultrasound examination in early pregnancy can help rule out ectopic pregnancy.

3. Routine examination of leucorrhea

This examination can help understand the condition of the vagina, such as whether there are Trichomonas or fungi. If necessary, mycoplasma, chlamydia and gonococci should also be examined. If the above pathogens are found, appropriate treatment should be carried out before the abortion to avoid ascending infection or aggravation of infection during surgery.

4. Blood test

The main thing is to do a routine blood test to determine whether there is infection in other parts of the body.

5. Electrocardiogram and liver function tests

An electrocardiogram can help understand the patient's heart condition, thereby assisting doctors in making comprehensive analyses and determining whether the patient is suitable for surgery; a liver function test can help understand the condition of the liver and help determine whether special treatment is needed during surgery.
