Early pregnancy test cannot rule out ectopic pregnancy

Ectopic pregnancy refers to the phenomenon that the fertilized egg implants and develops in other parts of the uterus before reaching the uterine cavity. The occurrence of ectopic pregnancy will not only cause great psychological harm to women, but also endanger their lives if not treated in time. So, how to detect ectopic pregnancy early? Can it be determined by early pregnancy test paper?

Now many female friends know that they can determine whether they are pregnant by a small early pregnancy test paper. In fact, the early pregnancy test paper is only a qualitative test, which can only determine whether pregnancy is achieved or not, that is, positive means pregnancy, negative means no pregnancy, and cannot determine whether it is intrauterine pregnancy.

As we all know, the detection principle of early pregnancy test strips is to determine the level of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) in urine through the colloidal gold method. HCG is a glycoprotein produced by the placenta during pregnancy and can be excreted from the urine through the glomerulus, so measuring the content in urine is a reliable indicator for diagnosing pregnancy. But this is not a golden indicator. First of all, only when the HCG in the blood reaches a certain concentration will the urine show a positive result. When an ectopic pregnancy occurs, the level of HCG is not as high as that of an intrauterine pregnancy. The urine may not show obvious results, resulting in a false negative result, misleading people into thinking that they are not pregnant; secondly, a higher level of HCG can also be produced during an ectopic pregnancy, and the test is positive. Some women overly believe in the test results of early pregnancy test strips and think that they are pregnant. When they have uncomfortable symptoms such as vaginal bleeding and abdominal pain, they still blindly protect the fetus, which delays the disease. Therefore, friends who are preparing to get pregnant are reminded that once the menstruation stops for more than 40 days, they should go to the hospital for a check-up to ensure that they are pregnant and that the gestational sac is in the uterus.
