What are the symptoms of uterine fibroids?

Uterine fibroids cause serious harm to our patients, but many patients still do not understand the symptoms of uterine fibroids. In order to treat uterine fibroids as early as possible, we should understand the symptoms of uterine fibroids. So what are the symptoms of uterine fibroids? Let's take a look at the symptoms of uterine fibroids.

Symptoms of uterine fibroids:

1. Uterine bleeding. Uterine bleeding is the most common symptom of malignant uterine fibroids. Most or more than half of the patients will have this symptom. Among them, periodic bleeding accounts for more, about 2/3; while continuous or irregular bleeding accounts for 1/3.

2. Abdominal lumps, which are sometimes the only symptom of fibroids. This is often the case with intramural fibroids that grow into the abdominal cavity and do not affect the endometrium, especially those located at the bottom of the uterus or with pedicles and subserosal fibroids.

3. Pain. About 40% of patients have abdominal pain, 25% have backache, and 45% have dysmenorrhea. Symptoms of uterine fibroids include a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen or backache, but the degree is not very serious. The pain is generally caused by the tumor compressing the pelvic blood vessels, causing blood stasis, or compressing the nerves, or the pedunculated submucosal fibroids can stimulate the uterus to contract and be discharged from the uterine cavity, causing the cervical canal to widen and cause pain; or the necrosis and infection of the fibroids cause pelvic inflammatory disease, adhesion, traction, etc.

4. Compression symptoms. Generally, the location of compression is the uterine cervical fibroids, or the lower part of the uterine body. The fibroids enlarge and fill the pelvic cavity, compressing the surrounding organs. Compression of the bladder causes frequent urination or dysuria, urinary retention, etc.; compression of the ureter causes hydronephrosis and pyelitis. Symptoms of uterine fibroids Myomas growing on the posterior wall of the uterus can compress the rectum, causing constipation and even difficulty in defecation.

5. Leucorrhea: 41.9% of the women have increased leucorrhea. Due to the enlargement of the uterine cavity and the increase of endometrial glands, pelvic congestion or inflammation can increase leucorrhea. When submucosal fibroids ulcerate, infect, bleed, or necrotize, bloody or purulent leucorrhea will occur, and the amount can be large.

6. Infertility and miscarriage are also common symptoms of malignant uterine fibroids. Malignant uterine fibroids leading to female infertility and miscarriage are very common symptoms. Since uterine fibroids are generally benign tumors, once the lesions are discovered to be malignant uterine fibroids, patients often find it difficult to detect.

In summary, after understanding the symptoms of uterine fibroids, we must go to a regular hospital for examination and diagnosis to avoid causing serious harm to our patients. If you have any questions about uterine fibroids, please consult our online experts, who will answer all your questions.
