Abnormal vaginal discharge begins after menarche

Abnormal vaginal discharge after menarche may be related to changes in hormone levels, infection or lifestyle habits, and appropriate measures should be taken according to the specific reasons.

Menarche is an important sign of female puberty. At this time, the hormone levels in the body change significantly, which may lead to an increase in vaginal discharge or changes in the properties. Under normal circumstances, vaginal discharge should be transparent or milky white, without obvious odor. If the color of vaginal discharge is abnormal (such as yellow, green), the texture is sticky, or accompanied by an odor, it may be related to infection. Common types of infection include bacterial vaginitis, candidal vaginitis, or trichomoniasis. Bacterial vaginitis usually manifests as grayish white secretions with a fishy smell; candidal vaginitis will have white curd-like secretions accompanied by itching; trichomoniasis may cause yellow-green foamy secretions with an odor. Bad living habits such as excessive cleaning, the use of irritating lotions, or wearing non-breathable underwear may also cause abnormal vaginal discharge.

For abnormal vaginal discharge after menarche, different measures need to be taken according to the specific cause. If it is a mild abnormality caused by changes in hormone levels, no special treatment is usually required, just keep the vulva clean and dry. It is recommended to wash the vulva with warm water every day and avoid using irritating washes. If infection is suspected, you should seek medical attention in time, and the doctor may prescribe medication according to the symptoms. For example, metronidazole or clindamycin is commonly used for bacterial vaginitis; fluconazole or clotrimazole suppositories can be used for fungal vaginitis; and oral metronidazole or tinidazole is required for trichomonas vaginitis. During treatment, avoid sexual intercourse to prevent cross-infection. In terms of diet, it is recommended to consume more foods rich in probiotics, such as yogurt and fermented foods, which help maintain the balance of vaginal flora. At the same time, avoid high-sugar diets, because too high sugar content may increase the risk of fungal infection. In terms of clothing, choose cotton underwear, avoid tight pants or chemical fiber materials, and maintain breathability.

Although abnormal vaginal discharge is common after menarche, it should not be ignored. If symptoms persist or worsen, such as accompanied by abdominal pain, fever or abnormal bleeding, you should seek medical attention immediately to rule out the possibility of other gynecological diseases. Regular gynecological examinations, especially for women after menarche, can help detect problems early and intervene in time. Through scientific care and reasonable treatment, most abnormal vaginal discharge problems can be effectively solved.
