How to calculate the safe menstrual period?

Modern women want to use scientific contraception, one of which is to reduce the chance of pregnancy by calculating the safe period. So, how do you calculate the safe period of menstruation? Is it accurate?

Generally speaking, the safe period is divided into the safe period before ovulation and the safe period after ovulation.

The safe period after ovulation is safer than the safe period before ovulation. This is because the ovary in a menstrual cycle has two eggs opportunity is very rare, that is, after ovulation to the next menstrual cramps before this period of time usually won't happen again second time of ovulation, so the safe period after ovulation is safer.

The seven days before menstruation and the eight days after menstruation are the safe period for adult women, which is a calculation method used by most people for contraception. In addition to the calendar method that uses the number of days to calculate, there are also the basal body temperature method and the secretion observation method. However, the safe period is not absolutely safe. Sometimes women ovulate earlier or later, and the judgment of the safe period becomes invalid at this time. Judging the safe period can only reduce the chance of pregnancy.

The calculation of the safe period is based on women with regular menstrual cycles. For some women, ovulation may be delayed or advanced due to physical health conditions, environmental changes, and mood swings. Therefore, the ovulation period calculated based on the menstrual cycle is not accurate enough.

The safe period can be calculated by ovulation calculator or ovulation test strips, or by basal body temperature. Basal body temperature refers to the body temperature of a healthy person after waking up in the morning, which is generally the lowest body temperature of the day. For women of normal childbearing age, the body temperature rises immediately after ovulation and lasts until the beginning of the next menstrual cycle. Using the changing pattern of a woman's basal body temperature, find her ovulation day and abstain from sexual intercourse 3 to 4 days before and 5 to 7 days after. This is a more scientific method.

Therefore, the safe menstrual period is relatively accurate for women with regular menstrual cycles, but it still requires the assistance of various scientific methods.
