"Cell" published a study conducted at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel, which concluded that personalized dietary advice can help everyone control blood sugar and weight. The study included 800 people, who measured their post-meal blood sugar levels continuously for a week. A total of 4,435 days, 46,898 meals, and 1,500,000 sets of post-meal blood sugar data were collected, which were then analyzed using an algorithm. This is an unprecedented analytical study. Studies have found that consuming foods such as ice cream or croissants does not necessarily lead to obesity. It varies from person to person, and the key factor is blood sugar, because the same food may cause different blood sugar levels in different people. This difference may be related to the types and proportions of human intestinal microorganisms. The results of this study may overturn the traditional concept that "high-calorie foods are prone to obesity" and suggest that personalized diets can successfully correct post-meal blood sugar levels and metabolic symptoms. The research was published in Cell: Volume 163, Issue 5, 19 November 2015, Pages 1079–1094 This article is from ELSEVIER Global Pharmaceutical News |
