Will running fast make you anaerobic? Understanding the aerobic and anaerobic zones in running

"Aerobic exercise" is a term that many runners have heard of but do not fully understand. Simply put, "aerobic exercise" is exercise that focuses on enhancing cardiopulmonary function.

Human movement requires adenosine triphosphate to provide energy, and adenosine triphosphate is produced through the body's aerobic and anaerobic metabolism. Anaerobic metabolism can synthesize adenosine triphosphate without the need for oxygen for a short period of time, but it does not last long; while aerobic metabolism requires oxygen to synthesize adenosine triphosphate, but it can last for a long time. If the "adenosine triphosphate" consumed during exercise is mainly metabolized through aerobic metabolism, it is called "aerobic exercise."

The definition of aerobic exercise: aerobic exercise refers to long-term, rhythmic muscle movements that increase the heart rate, such as: long-distance jogging, cycling, swimming, skipping rope, aerobics...

"Anaerobic exercise" refers to intense, instantaneous, high-intensity exercise of muscles in an oxygen-deficient state. Due to its high intensity and the lack of oxygen energy supply, it is difficult to maintain for a long time. Relatively speaking, this kind of exercise will cause muscle fatigue and shortness of breath... Anaerobic exercise training can improve muscle strength and physical fitness, such as: sprinting, weightlifting, high jump, basketball...

Simply put, rhythmic exercise that increases your heart rate is "aerobic exercise". If you can talk, feel hot, and sweat while running, then you are in the "aerobic" stage. If you run faster and faster and can no longer talk and are out of breath, then you have reached the "anaerobic" stage.

Aerobic exercise helps to "maintain" human vitality, while anaerobic exercise can "improve" the body's muscle endurance and strength. In order to maintain their physical fitness, many athletes will perform "aerobic exercise" during rest to relax and maintain their bodies, thereby achieving the purpose of cross-training.
