A new trend in weight loss diet: fasting 2 days a week

(Author: Mike Moseley, Mimi Spencer)

When Taiwanese people greet each other, they will ask: "Have you eaten enough?" Recently in the UK, people ask each other when they meet: "Is today your fasting day?" This is because a new weight loss and healthy diet trend called "5:2 intermittent fasting" is sweeping across the UK, the US and Europe.

A new attitude towards eating

There have always been different ways of fasting, including one-week fasting and three-day fasting. Each method has its supporters, but the accompanying effects and effects on the body are also controversial.

The intense fasting method of fasting for a week should be carried out according to the health condition of the participants and with the consultation and evaluation of the medical team. It is not suitable for everyone and is more difficult and challenging to implement.

The principle of "5:2 intermittent fasting" is to eat normally for five days a week, plus a two-day low-calorie diet, rather than two days of complete fasting. It is a more acceptable approach.

Use two days of small-scale diet to balance the total calorie intake for a week and reduce the chance of expanding your appetite. At the same time, practice choosing low-calorie foods and calculating portions on intermittent fasting days. Let the concept and implementation of low-calorie diet intake slowly become a part of your life and gradually develop the habit of low-calorie intake. This is a long-term and feasible way.

"5:2 intermittent fasting" is a new eating habit, eating attitude and new lifestyle. "Intermittent fasting" means consuming low calories on fasting days rather than no calories at all. This method also allows you to not force yourself to overly restrain your desire to eat. On intermittent fasting days, when you encounter food that you really want to eat, as long as you think that you can eat it tomorrow, you will feel more balanced and relaxed.

Because in fact, there is no food that cannot be consumed during the weight loss process. There is only a problem of intake amount and frequency. There is no problem of completely fasting from certain foods.

Please remember: health is the most important thing to pay attention to and invest in throughout your life.
