Study: Drinking pomegranate juice can reduce appetite by 20%

Do you still feel hungry no matter how much you eat? Or do you want to lose weight but can't control your appetite? Maybe try a glass of pomegranate juice! According to a British study, the special polyphenols contained in pomegranates can suppress appetite, and after eating them for 3 weeks, the average food intake is reduced by 22%.

The Daily Mail reported that a study conducted by Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh divided volunteers into two groups, with the experimental group eating pomegranates every day for three weeks. In the experiment, the subjects were arranged to drink a glass of pomegranate juice before eating pasta, and their hunger levels, appetite, and satiety were recorded 15 minutes before and 2 hours after the meal. The control group took a placebo.

After the experiment, the researchers found that the people in the experimental group had lower scores in terms of satiety and hunger, and they only ate 447 grams of pasta, which was a 22% decrease compared to the 574 grams in the control group. This can effectively reduce the chances of eating too much and overeating. Researchers speculate that the reason for the increased feeling of fullness is that pomegranate juice contains a polyphenol substance that can suppress a person's appetite, thus successfully reducing food intake and increasing the feeling of fullness.

Previous studies have found that eating pomegranates can lower blood pressure, reduce stress, and is also beneficial to the blood, central nervous system and immune system. Pomegranate is a powerful antioxidant that can also remove free radicals from the human body. Its effectiveness is comparable to that of red wine and green tea, and is better than other fruit juices.
