Can’t lose weight! 40% of Americans will be obese by 2030

Affected by the long-standing dietary culture and patterns, the number of obese people in the United States has always remained high. According to a recent research report, if Americans continue to have such bad eating and exercise habits, by 2030, it is estimated that at least 44% of the people will suffer from obesity.

According to the Huffington Post, 35.7% of adults in the United States currently suffer from medically defined obesity, with a body mass index (BMI) greater than 30, and 16.9% of adolescents aged 2 to 19 are obese.

The latest research by the U.S. health promotion organization Trust for America's Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation pointed out that according to statistics in 1991, less than 10% of the U.S. population was obese, but by 2011, the proportion had increased to more than 20%. According to this trend, 44% of the U.S. population will be obese by 2030.

In addition, the study also estimates that the number of patients with obesity-related diseases such as diabetes will increase from the current rate of 1.9 million new patients per year to 7.9 million; the number of patients with chronic cardiovascular diseases will also increase from 1.3 million new patients per year to 6.8 million.

Jeff Levi, CEO of America's Health Trust, said that due to the increase in the number of obese people, medical costs will increase from $4.8 billion to $6.6 billion in the next 20 years. Not only will people pay a health price due to obesity, but the country will also have to invest more money, which will have a significant impact on the quality of life of the entire country.
