Harvard study: Fish oil is not effective in preventing cardiovascular disease

Crystal clear fish oil is a must-have health supplement for many people. Since the human body cannot synthesize omega-3 unsaturated fatty acids on its own, it must rely on large amounts of deep-sea fish for supplementation. However, most people do not have a regular habit of eating fish, so they take fish oil instead. A large-scale study in the United States found that there is no strong evidence that taking fish oil regularly can improve or prevent heart-related diseases. Although experts do not deny that it still has other effects, they still recommend that everyone eat more fish, which will be more helpful to health in the long run.

A Harvard University study shows that taking fish oil regularly does not significantly prevent cardiovascular disease. Eating more fish is the best way to go!

The Washington Post reported on the 1st that scholars from the Harvard Public Health Center recently conducted a study on 14 reports and more than 20,000 cardiovascular patients with an average age of 63, and all subjects took fish oil regularly (0.4-0.8g/day) for more than 1 year. After cross-checking all the data, the researchers found that the omega-3 unsaturated fatty acids in fish oil cannot protect the fragile cardiovascular system or effectively reduce the chance of recurrence of heart disease patients. It can be said that this has overturned everyone’s basic understanding of this health product. The report was published in the April issue of the journal Archives of Internal Medicine.

According to statistics, 12% of the 300 million people in the United States suffer from cardiovascular disease, and the number of deaths caused by related complications is high. Since many of them are inherited from the family, "prevention is better than cure" is particularly important. Nutritionists generally recommend that people maintain the habit of consuming deep-sea fish (such as salmon, herring, and tuna) twice a week. The omega-3 unsaturated fatty acids in them can effectively reduce the symptoms of cardiovascular inflammation and slow down the frequency and severity of the disease.

However, it is not easy for modern people to develop the habit of eating fish, so most of them replace it with artificially extracted fish oil. However, this report proves for the first time that swallowing fish oil cannot achieve the desired effect, and eating more real fish is still a better choice.
