How to check chronic cervicitis that causes infertility

The cervix is located between the vagina and the uterus. It is not only an important protective barrier for the internal reproductive organs, but also an important part of reproductive physiology and reproductive endocrine function. When women develop cervicitis, the environment in the vagina will change, toxins and inflammatory cells will increase, which is not conducive to the survival and movement of sperm. Sperm cannot penetrate the cervix and enter the uterine cavity, thus leading to infertility.

Experts point out that there are mainly the following methods to check chronic cervicitis:

1. Iodine test and visual observation

Iodine test and naked eye observation are one of the methods to check chronic cervicitis. They are relatively simple and can detect at least 2/3 of the lesions. Naked eye observation is to smear the cervix with 3%-5% acetic acid solution, observe the reaction of the cervical epithelium to acetic acid, and then take a biopsy from the white lesion area.

2. Gynecological examination

How to check chronic cervicitis that causes infertility? Patients with chronic cervicitis need to undergo a gynecological examination, focusing on the size, shape, texture, thickness of the cervical canal, and whether there is contact bleeding. Secondly, check the condition of the vulva, vagina, uterus and paracervical tissue (ovaries, fallopian tubes, pelvic lymph nodes, etc.).

3. Colposcopy

Colposcopy is an important method for checking chronic cervicitis, which can quickly detect lesions that are invisible to the naked eye. During colposcopy, biopsies can also be taken from suspicious areas, which can significantly improve the accuracy of biopsies.

4. Cervical smear cytology examination

Cervical smear cytology examination is also a routine gynecological examination. It is simple, easy, cost-effective, and the most important auxiliary examination and the preferred initial screening method for cancer prevention surveys. It can also be used as a method to check chronic cervicitis.
