Clinical manifestations of hyperplastic vulvar leukoplakia

Vulvar leukoplakia is a chronic malnutrition disease that occurs in the vulva. The causes of vulvar leukoplakia may be related to diabetes and endocrine disorders. In addition, it can also be caused by the local environment of the vulva, such as humidity, which can induce vulvar leukoplakia, including primary vulvar atrophy, atrophic lichen sclerosus, vulvar leukoplakia, leukoplakia vaginitis, and vulvar dryness. Patients often experience vulvar itching, sometimes with burning and pain.

Hyperplastic vulvar leukoplakia is another type of manifestation of vulvar leukoplakia that appears as the disease progresses. It can be divided into early, middle and late stages according to the patient's symptoms.

1. Early manifestations of hyperplastic vulvar leukoplakia: The main symptom of patients with early hyperplastic vulvar leukoplakia is vulvar itching. For some patients, the itching worsens at night, and scratching often causes redness, swelling and ulceration, and may cause burning and other discomfort.

2. Mid-stage manifestations of hyperplastic vulvar leukoplakia: In the mid-stage of hyperplastic vulvar leukoplakia, keratinization and hyperplasia appear on the skin of the lesion area, and mild hypopigmentation appears locally on the inner side of the labia majora and minora, in the form of dots or small white papules, with a frosty white discoloration on the surface.

3. Late-stage manifestations of hyperplastic vulvar leukoplakia: Patients with late-stage hyperplastic vulvar leukoplakia have severe hyperkeratosis of the skin, repeated shedding of the keratin layer, or vulvar irritation, edema, chappedness, ulceration and erosion due to scratching. There may be itching accompanied by pain, and patients can clearly feel the severity of the symptoms.
