Help you understand some treatment methods for vulvar leukoplakia

Vulvar white lesions are also called vulvar white lesions, vulvar leukoplakia or vulvar dystrophy. The so-called vulvar leukoplakia actually refers to the disease of tissue degeneration and pigment change caused by local nerve and vascular nutrition disorders of the vulva. Clinically, the skin and mucous membrane of the vulva become white, thick or atrophic diseases are often collectively referred to as "vulvar leukoplakia". So what are the treatments for vulvar leukoplakia?

Regarding the treatment of vulvar leukoplakia, vulvar leukoplakia can be treated locally: wash the vulva frequently, keep it dry and clean, and apply topical steroid hormones such as hydrocortisone ointment and hydrocortisone butyrate cream when itching is obvious. When itching is particularly severe, halometasone (sicorten) cream or ointment and special beauty cream or ointment can be applied externally, which has a good effect. Keratosis hyperplasia lesions can be treated with 0.025% retinoic acid ointment or 5-fluorouracil ointment, which can block the conversion of uracil deoxynucleoside to thymidine deoxynucleoside, inhibit DNA synthesis, and prevent the proliferation, division and differentiation of cancer cells. Therefore, 5-fluorouracil ointment can be applied locally to treat skin precancerous lesions and skin malignant lesions.

Surgical excision: Leukoplakia vulvae may turn into cancer, so we should not be careless, but there are not many cases of cancer, so do not remove it just because it is diagnosed. In fact, atypical hyperplastic leukoplakia vulvae can be cured and relieved through the combination of Chinese and Western medicine. It does not necessarily develop into squamous cell carcinoma, so we must first determine the degree of atypical lesions of leukoplakia vulvae. Usually, it is necessary to follow up and observe frequently while combining Chinese and Western medicine treatment. Surgery is the exact indication for leukoplakia vulvae only when the epidermal keratinocytes have obvious atypicality and tend to develop into carcinoma in situ.

The treatment methods for vulvar leukoplakia are introduced here. I hope it will be helpful to patients. In addition to clinical symptoms and signs, vulvar dystrophy can be diagnosed clinically mainly by pathological examination. Biopsy samples are taken from chapped, ulcerated, raised, hardened or rough areas, and samples are taken from multiple points in different parts. Symptomatic treatment is required after the diagnosis is confirmed.
